WATERPROOFING MEMBRANE SYSTEM

SEALTIGHT MEL-ROL Waterproofing System is a roll-type membrane for
use in providing waterproofing protection against damaging moisture
migration and the infiltration of free water. |

1.4 SUBMITTALS

1.5 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING
- A. Delivery: Deliver materials to site in manufacturer's
original, unopened containers and packaging, with labels clearly identifying
product name and manufacturer.
B. Storage:

- 1. Store materials in a clean dry area in accordance
with manufacturer's instructions.
2. Store membrane cartons on pallets.
3. Do not store at temperatures above 90 degrees F (32 degrees C)
for extended periods.
4. Keep away from sparks and flames.
5. Completely cover when stored outside. Protect from rain.

and application to prevent damage or contamination.
1.6 ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS
- A. Do not apply membrane when air or surface temperatures
are below 25 degrees F (-4 degrees C).
B. Do not apply to frozen concrete.

1. Description: Polymeric waterproofing membrane protected by release
paper on cross-laminated polyethylene carrier film with exposed
polymeric membrane strips on both sides protected by pull-off release
strips.
2. Compliance: AREMA Specification Chapter 29 - Waterproofing.
3. Thickness:
a. Carrier Film: 4 mils.
b. Polymeric Membrane: 56 mils.

PART 3 EXECUTION
3.1 EXAMINATION
- A. Examine surfaces to receive waterproofing membrane
system. Notify Architect if surfaces are not acceptable. Do not begin
surface preparation or application until unacceptable conditions have
been corrected.
3.2 SURFACE PREPARATION
- A. Prepare surfaces in accordance with manufacturer's
instructions.
B. Cure concrete a minimum of 72 hours.
C. Ensure concrete is clean, dry, smooth, and free of voids.
D. Remove sharp protrusions and repair surface defects.
3.3 APPLICATION
- A. Apply waterproofing membrane system in accordance
with manufacturer's instructions.
B. Ensure accessory materials are compatible with membrane and approved
by membrane manufacturer.
C. Prime surfaces to be covered in 1 day with applicable primer. Reprime
uncovered surfaces next day.
D. Inspect membrane before covering and repair as necessary. Cover tears
and inadequate overlaps with membrane. Seal edges of patches with pointing
mastic.
E. Perform flood testing of horizontal applications, as required. Mark
leaks and repair when membrane dries.
F. Avoid use of products which contain tars, solvents, pitches, polysulfide
polymers, or PVC materials that may come into contact with waterproofing
membrane system.
3.4 PROTECTION
- A. Protect membrane on vertical and horizontal
applications with immediate application of waterproofing protection
course, if no drainage system is used, or rolled matrix drainage system.
Use pointing mastic as an adhesive.
B. Backfill immediately using care to avoid damaging waterproofing membrane
system.
