PRODUCT APPLICATION

Joint Sealant Detail

PRODUCT APPLICATION DIRECTIONS
Follow These Instructions Carefully For Maximum Effectiveness. BE SURE TO WEAR SAFETY GLASSES AND CHEMICAL RESISTANT GLOVES.

1. JOINT FILLERS. For joints one inch wide, a 2:1 width to to depth ratio should be maintained. For joints less than one inch wide, the sealant depth should be a minimum of 1/2". DECK-O-SEAL is not recommended for use in joints over one-inch in width because of the long curing time. To control sealant depth insert SEALTIGHT KOOL-ROD Backer Rod in joint before sealing.

2. SURFACE PREPARATION. All surfaces to be sealed must be thoroughly cleaned and free of any contamination such as curing compounds, waterproofing compounds, dirt, oil, grease, wax, paints, laitance, etc. Clean by wire brushing or sand blasting. Concrete should be completely cured, free from all foreign materials and contamination from curing agents. (Industry accepted standard for curing is 28 days.)

3. To maintain cleanliness around the joint to be sealed, apply masking tape.

4. STORE AND MIX in a cool shaded place, when temperatures exceed 77°F. Do not mix until ready to use.

5. DECK-O-SEAL Joint Sealant is supplied in two-component kits, containing the proper ratio of base to setting agent which must be maintained. De-rim the container to facilitate proper mixing.

6. Stir and pour setting agent into base, mix slowly for a timed 10 minute period. Avoid trapping air in the sealant. Make sure to scrape sides and bottom of container while mixing.

7. APPLY THOROUGHLY MIXED DECK-O-SEAL with the supplied applicator. Be sure to remove masking tape from both sides of joint before the sealant starts to set.

8. DECK-O-SEAL will set firm and rubbery within 24 hours at 77°F. At lower temperatures, curing time may take longer.

9. Be sure to use all the DECK-O-SEAL Joint Sealer mixed. Product can not be resealed for future use.

10. AFTER APPLYING SEALANT, application equipment should be cleaned promptly with Xylene or Toluene.
